Celebrity stylist Kanayo Ebi and Pop Up Africa to launch Kach It Project
Pop Up Africa, the curators of London’s African inspired shopping event ‘Africa at Spitalfields’, have teamed up with Leading US celebrity fashion stylist, Kanayo Ebi to launch The Kach It Project. A series of pop-up fashion events, with its London debut taking place from the 10th-11th March 2017, at East London’s iconic Olympic Village.
Kanayo Ebi, in her early 30’s of Nigerian heritage, born in New York City, is an image brand consultant and fashion/style enthusiast. Founder of the ‘Kach Me if you Can’ showroom in the thriving arts community of Long Island City, Queens, New York. The showroom aims to bridge the gap between new and emerging designers with individuals in the fashion industry interested in authentic and contemporary ground breaking fashion forward designs through the use of PR, branding and styling.
There is this unexplained yet unapologetic thrill I get in discovering and finding new brands and being a part of its development from something good and watching it turn into something great. By creating this platform for many great and deserving designers, who have gone unrecognized, will allow the industry to finally see their talent and embrace them with open arms and onto the centre stage. – Kanayo Ebi
Kanayo’s client list includes the likes of Angela, Vanessa and Diggy Simmons, Sanya Richards-Ross, J.Cole, Adrienne Bailon and Dawn Richards. Kanayo has also worked with various magazines including Hype Hair & Tatler Magazine and the leading Nigerian fashion show, Lagos Fashion and Design Week. Kanayo, is also known as the ‘Fashion Finder’ and on a recent trip to London she was impressed by two UK based designers. British-Zimbabwean fashion designer Rahima Mohamed, and Innocente Messy, a London College of Fashion graduate.
Kanayo explains:
“I couldn’t think of a better partnership than joining forces with Pop Up Africa for the showroom’s first ever event in London. We’re excited to showcase and debut some of our designers’ new spring/summer 2017 collections and of course work alongside some of the UK’s most talented and emerging brands. There’s certainly something here for everyone.
